You don’t need to read music fluently, and you don’t need formal classical training. We work a lot with medieval notation, which is new to almost everyone. That said, Choir School is not really a beginner singing class. You do need to feel reasonably comfortable singing, matching pitch, holding a simple line, and using your voice with other people. The work can also go quite far down the rabbit hole, with niche and sometimes advanced musical ideas. If you already sing by ear, feel curious, and are happy to get stuck into unusual repertoire and detailed musical work, it could be a good fit.

For the Discount tier, anything simple is fine. This could be a student card, artist bio, website, portfolio link, recent programme, MU or Equity membership, or a short note explaining your situation. It does not need to be overly formal. We just need something that confirms the tier is appropriate.

Supporter members are offered one 1-to-1 class with Thomas each calendar year. This can be used to consolidate current work, go deeper into the repertoire, or catch up after a planned absence. There is also more flexibility around absences on the Supporter tier. If you need to miss sessions, you can receive a refund of up to two classes per calendar year, which is equivalent to one month’s membership fee. Alternatively, we may be able to offer up to three 1-to-1 classes in lieu of a refund for missed sessions.

The dates currently listed on the website are the confirmed dates so far. When future dates are confirmed, the schedule will be updated on the membership hub, and you will receive an email.

Unfortunately, we do not offer one-off sessions, as Choir School is an ongoing monthly membership, rather than a one-off class or short course. We are looking for students who are interested in longer-term learning and building this practice over time.

You can do a one-off switch to another cohort in lieu of your usual session, usually within 2 weeks of each other and subject to space. If you would like to change cohort permanently, we would need to cancel your current membership and you would then need to sign up again for the new cohort.

If you know you will be away for one month or more, you can request to hold your place at a 50% rate. This must be approved in writing by Idrîsî management. If approved, you keep your place during the agreed break period and pay 50% of your usual monthly rate.

Yes. Cancellations require two months’ written notice to choirschool@idrisiensemble.com and needs to be approved in writing by Idrîsî management.

1. Visit the Idrîsî website.

2. Click ‘Sign In’ in the website navigation.

3. On the login screen, look for ‘Forgot Password?’

4. Enter the email address you used when signing up and submit the request.

5. Check your inbox for a password reset email, including your junk or spam folder.

6. Follow the link in the email to create a new password. The reset link expires after 24 hours.

7. Once you've reset your password, log in and go to Account > Memberships or Subscriptions. Select your active membership, open Settings > Payment method, and choose Update payment method to add your new card.
